SAP For Highways - Case Study

Company:Amey highways division; circa @ 400 Staff.
Industry: Infrastructure services.
Engagement: Training design and management, design & delivery for a customised SAP system (finance, order management, and scheduling to mobile platform.)
Working Together: February 2014 to September 2014
Customer Activity: Essential infrastructure and highways maintenance.

Introduction:
The customer had requirements for a team consisting of training and system implementation specialist to form part of a SAP and Mobile deployment project team. Our client was deploying SAP and mobile working to areas 6 and 8. The system would create, process, and deploy work orders to a mobile workforce. The system covered the full lifecycle of an order raised to deal with fault, failure or incident reported to the central control room subject to a priority system and highways regulations.

GB3 provided a full training team, working collaboratively with a spectrum of project teams, including business analysis, development and testing. Our team had the responsibility of providing role based training for our customer’s back office and operational staff, preparation of training data sets and a library of modular Training Guides.

During the engagement period, multiple training programmes were delivered across the organisation, with continual process re-engineering to match development in line with multiple releases of the SAP system.

GB3 Impact
1. Used one resource to fill multiple roles during the project delivery, ensuring savings and stronger delivery through the flexibility of tasks.
2. Created a comprehensive User Guide library; embedding the knowledge within front line staff and removing the need for extended support costs.
3. Trainer+ resources were ramped up & down as required; this avoided the expense of retaining permanent employees or losing project knowledge/experience.
